toyota prius help

Hi I own a classic toyota prius (not new '04) and would love to put a carputer in there. It has a built in 5.8" lcd touchscreen already and after much thought and research it seems like it would be a pain in the *** to use this touchscreen. The only way that I know to use this screen would be to buy the deluxe viewtech system from these guys:
http://www.coastaletech.com/viewtech.htm
and then buy a seperate touch screen:
http://www.digitalww.com/56TSK.htm
But my problem seems to be that doing this would cost ~$500 just to use a 5.8" screen on composite input and possibly have problems sandwiching two touchscreen panels on one another when I could get a seperate 7" vga lcd w/ touchscreen for cheaper. Any suggestions on how to make this situation more cost effective/better?

Just curious, but what does your current screen show? Maybe, you could find a way to have it show up through your computer and control it from there?

Wow those cars really are neat. I think the best way would to be to just mount the car pc screen somewhere else. You kind of need that screen you have in there. Unless you can figure out how to have the computer show the info and have it send out touch screen commands.
