Hello!! CarPC project pics inside.
Hey everyone.. Just wanted to say HI.. I started my car PC project a couple days ago.. Its going in a 1996 TransAm WS6.. I began by modifing the radio bezel.. Here are some pics with current progress.
Car its going in:
Bezel before
Bezel being 'glassed
Bezel with its first coat of textured paint
I took the bezel and cut out the divider.. The divider split the HVAC from the radio.. I lowered it down about 1/2 an inch so I would have enough space for the 7in touch screen.. I'll post more as I get more done.. I would have posted in the "Show off your project" forum, but this is a project in progress.

That's looking great so far. Very cool! I just used little pieces of plastic on the sides and cut up the divider and used it as the bottom. You'll probably be able to see the top edge of the screen better than me the way you're doing it. Mine's kind of in deeper. The one thing I did after it was done was to bevel the edges around the screen so I could use the touch screen better. Oh, also make sure the LCD will clear the A/C controls before you cut that opening. You can grind a little off the top inside the dash, but not the bottom! Well, you can move that down just slightly. It's a really tight fit. I think I have a pic of the LCD mounted just to give you more ideas. The screen is right up to the top inside, and the screws in are globs of bondo.

I found your tapc6.jpg photo.. WOW, where were these photos when I was looking?!?!? Yours looks really good and probably wasnt as much trouble to go through as mine was. Now, seeing your, I think Im going to have ALOT of space left on the top half that Im cutting out for the screen. As you can see, I've closed the space up that has the HVAC controls.. The part that seperates the HVAC from the Radio goes right up to the knobs.. How knows, maybe I'll have enough space on top of the screen to put in a laptop DVD drive
Do you have any photos of how you have the PC installed??

Oh! So you have enough room that the LCD module can hang over the HVAC panel just a bit? Mine sits right on top of it, and touches the top of the dash opening. I'd love to have a CD or DVD drive somewhere, but just don't have the room. I do have some more pics, but not much of the install...

One's the gamepad I use for steering wheel controls. The white one is because I couldn't find any black textured paint. No pics of the PC. It's actually inside the dash and there's no getting it out.

http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...123&type=store Smallest I could find, but they are push-on/push-off. I shoved a hot piece of wire (LED lead) in the back so it doesn't push all the way down and click. To get them flush, I took them apart, grinded the edges down to fit the holes, glued them in and rubbed bondo into the gaps, sanded, and painted.
Hey, I'm still waiting on bobbykokinos to explain this bezel thing. Is that really fiberglass or epoxy-resin? It looks so flat and straight without much sanding!
