1992 Camaro RS Carputer
Alright guys, about 2 weeks ago I bought my first car. a 1992 Camaro RS. Now, I'm ripping it apart
What I really need help with is where I should position my screen (either a 5" PSOne, or 7" lilliput), Right now my only REAL option is to flush mount it into the dash. I will show detail in the pictures to follow. But for now, I'll tell you the system specs.
Processor: 633MHz Celeron
MotherBoard: Helett Packard ____? (it's a pull, I don't know)
Hard Drive: 40GB Samsung
RAM: 256MB PC133
Optical: Sony DVD Rom
Car Specs:
1992 Camaro RS
3.1L V6 - I know, no flames please
Automatic - I know, no flames please
Leather Interior
Metallic Green
Now, onto the questions:
1. I've been browsing these forums for a few days now, and really can't find any programs I would really want to run on my CarPC, mainly because I haven't found a good looking skin. I am relatively good with Photoshop, but I woulnd't know how to code the skin to fit the program. Are there any programs out there that are VERY simple to change the skin?
2. I'm going to be using some kind of converter (not sure if this is the right word) to plug into my ciggarrette lighter to power the PC, is this not a good idea? I don't have much money, so I need to go with something cheap, what would you suggest? (I have a 250W PSU)
Ok, now let's go to the pictures.
So far all I've done is make a custom case made out of starboard, and installed all of the basic computer hardware, Here is a few pics of the system, both IN and out of the car.
Now that you've seen the case, look at where I have so far planned on mounting the screen.

Right to the left of the "RS 25th Anniversary" emblem.

This is the Carputers backround image
Anyway, this is quite possibly the longest post I have ever made on any forum board. So I'll end it. Hope you guys can help me, but if not, thanks anyway!
PS: The 2 holes in the case are for 80MM Fans

Ok, here's what I'm thinkin'. How much room do you have between the bottom of your center vents and the top of you console where your alarm light is? (I think that's a little red alarm LED right?) Cause you could build a little screen box there, and it would look pretty sweet.

Well, Tidder, I have no idea what red LED you're talking about, but last time I measured i think it was 6" from the top of the AC Controls to the center AC Vents. Big enough for a PSOne screen, but not a Lilliput
Edit: and yeah, it is a big box, The system I have in there for some reason tends to be a high temp. case, so I'm trying to spread everything around to dissipate some of the heat. Also I'm going to be adding sound activated Green Cathodes :-D. Ofcourse with an On/Off switch along with all my other switches in my center console.

Yeah, I was thinking that, I just don't think a lilliput will fit in there.

Yeah, thanks man. Ram in the forehead would suck...
Ok, here's the deal, I think that a 7" lilliput widescreen is between 4" and 5" tall, so what's not gonna fit? I bet if you loose the casing to the lilli it would fit eh?

I wish someone had measurements of the lilli with no casing. I did a little search and couldn't find anything.

Well, I'd like it to keep it's exterior casing, or at least the faceplat
