Minimum Spec

I've not yet built my carpc. I've got loads of components knocking around, from years of upgrades and repairs to friends and families pcs. I may also use the mobo and processor from my desktop pc as I use my laptop most.

My question is, out of all the front ends available, what is the minimum spec each can run on without a lag between pressing buttons on the touchscreen? (I've a touchscreen media player pentium pc in the kitchen which isn't too bad with the software that's running, but some software I tested took about five seconds to change screens when flicking through the albums.)

I've had a look at some of the front end homepages, but there's no minimum spec listed. I guess the question could be rephrased as 'What front end are you running? What's the spec of your machine? Is there any lag?'

Cheers

I'm running an AMD 2000+ and ofcourse its a zero-lag system.

Friend of mine is running MediaCar, iGuidance/Routis, video, music and other small various things on a Pentium 3 800Mhz System on a MicroATX.. It is also completely lagless.

Perhaps the lag is caused by the processing power needed to view the photos in the album (if they were photo albums you were talking about).

I think it will be something to do with the album covers, or just the graphics in general. The s/w I'm using at the mo doesn't have any and you can turn the covers off, and it's ok. The other s/w with the lag depended on which skin I was using. Some were graphically intensive and ran like a three legged dog.
