Old Car Interface

This has probably been asked before, but I would like to create a PC interface to monitor and control the systems in my old car. I have a source for all the sensors I need. I would like some infor on getting the sensor info into the PC and displaying it.

Ummmm....correct me if I'm wrong,as I've owned several gm's of this era,and I seem to remember them being carb'd and not an electronic control anywhere, not even an 02 sensor. The only thing I could see monitoring would be the spark,as they did have HEI ignitions.
You could convert to TBI with a Holley Projection system....then you'd have some control over the fuel map,and a few other variables.
Better yet, swap in an engine/trans combo from a later corvette or camaro, then you can use any standard gm obdII setup listed in the forums.

Yes they were Carb'd and not Electronic. I want to replace /add various electronic sensors to create the digital inputws needed and display the info on a PC. I have a source for the sensors. I have a little electronics knowledge, just not in this area.

My bad, when I saw the word control I was thinking you'd want a system that could change how your vehicle performs....that being said,an 02,water temp, oil pressure, and spark timing are what I'm guessing you'd like to see on the screen?

I'm thinking this will get you started, since all you're doing is reading a variable resistance from these sending units, although I'm sure you'll need some custom software(sorry,I'm a hardware guy, lol).
