Bmw e38 project

Hey all..

im thinking of building a pc for my car, the car is a bmw e38 730 94. without nav, dsp and tele.

so this is what im thinking of for det hardware:
for the motherboard ASRock
for the cpu a intel p4 3ghz
for the harddisk a Western Digital
for the soundcard a 5/1 or 7/1
for the videocard a onboard
and for the GPS a G-Sat BU-303

what do u think?

i have read so must og obd-2 and the thing it is possible to do with it, so my questen is i have a obd-1(i think) is it possible to do the same as a obd-2. to be able to read speed, rpm, maybe oil or fuel levels etc. if it is where to find it and how im a gonna use it? count really find anything about obd-1 on this forum or on google

isn't a 94' 7 series an E32?

Sorry not to answer your question. I've seen some OBDI computer interfaces so just google for it. If I run across something I'll let ou know.

I can make the bezel for you if you want. Haven't made one for an E38 yet but it'll look just like my other bezels.

i have look at your page there is a e39. my question is where is the bc?? can u controll everything from your pc like bc

what is a bezel is it the frame that holds the monitor

Yes it's the frame the holds the monitor. What's a bc? Do you mean the climate control? That can be moved down.

What he means by bc is board computer which in the e38 has two timmers, stop watch, temp, distance, limit.

I see... you would have to relocate that somewhere else I would imagine. I don't have that problem in my E46.

Doesn't look like it'll be but maybe you can shift everything down. The ac unit looks less wide.

is it not possible if a get a obd1 to do all the things the bc does.? some can do it with obd 2.. dont know if its possilble with obd 1.. if it is what sotfware do i need?

humm..

If you are willing to sacrifice the phone that comes with the car and the headunit, then you can use phoco for gsm. The bc can also be controlled from the indicator stick and you can view most of info next to the odometer
