PS/2 Port always has power?
Let me start by saying I have a Xenarc SC-3 and am using a wireless Keyboard with PS/2 connector.
When I shutdown the computer or use Hibernate the light on the wireless reciever stays on. Wouldn't it turn off since the computer has shutdown? The USB devices turn off. So does the PS/2 port always have power even with the computer off?
So if I do not cut power to the computer how much of a drain will this put on my car battery?
Confused!

well the PS/2 connector should have power if it's going to do wake on keyboard. Maybe try to turn that option off in the BIOS. I thought this would be a good way to do a remote start up of the computer, but alas, there doesn't seem to be enough power to do that. Well, I am using a USB to PS/2 converter. Can you start your computer remotely by using the keyboard (with the wake on keyboard option)?

Your computer should really be hooked up to an accessory line if you're using hibernation

Allow me....
your PS2 port will be recieving power off the 5vsb line (5V standby).
This power comes from your PSU to allow devices such as mice and keyboards with power buttons to turn the PC on or bring it out of hibernation or standby.
This can normally be disabled using either a jumper/DIP switch or BIOS setting - look for something to do with mouse/keyboard turning the PC on/waking it up or look for a 5vsb setting.
This can be also be disabled on the Opus as a modification OR you can simply kill all power to the PSU but this will destroy and standby info if you use it (but should not affect hibernation).
providing a 5vsb to a few devices will slowly drain your car battery - over a fair few days - not a problem if you drive it everday. But my worry is that a high constant drain will gradually ruin your battery. Everycar has a slight drain but the larger this gets the more it effects the life of your battery.

Ok Thanks guys. You learn something new everyday. I don't have that option in my BIOS so I guess power has to be cut all the time.

Nope. Acutally Xenarc does not provide a MB manual. Only a quick start guide. The only jumpers that I see on the MB are to clear the CMOS. My BIOS only has the option to change the statup from button only, keyboard, hot key, etc... Nothing to turn it off. I will probably use the UPS dummie S/S controller anyways so it shouldn't matter.
Thanks for the help!

Xenarc doesn't make the motherboard. They build the system and put their name on it.
I don't know what motherboard is in the unit, but you should be able to open up the unit and see what make/model of motherboard it is. Then go to that manufacturer's website and download the manual.
Now that you sparked my curiosity, I did some research. It's very likely that your Xenarc SC3 has the Intel D865GVHZ motherboard. I didn't see a manual, per se, but there are some documents, one of which is a BIOS glossary. That may give you the answer you need.
Good luck.

Uh, I 'think' that setting the Bios option to NOT start from keyboard should do what you want. So, given your description that might mean setting it to 'button only', if by button they mean the power button.
Best of Luck...

Hope this gives some more explination.
