Confirmation of USB Hub Power (have searched!!)

Here is my setup (for power reference):

-VIA M10000 (512 Ram, 160 gig full size HD)
-OPUS 150 watt DC-DC power Supply SFX.1215
- Xenarc 700TSV 7"
-Slot load, Slimline DVD (with USB adapter)
-Holux GM 210 USB GPS
-Netgear Wireless G Usb Adapter
-USB Bluetooth Adapter

I’ve been researching and think I’ve got all this figured out, but I want to make sure:

True or False:

1. A molex is the connector that comes out of the power supply and would plug into a DVD drive or Hard Drive?
2. Assuming the above is true: A molex has 2 ground wires, a yellow=12v, a red=5v?
3. To hook up a powered USB hub, I would use the plug that comes with the hub, cut of the end, and splice the + wire to the red wire on a molex and the – wire to one of the grounds of the molex?

Thanks for your help!

I have a couple of this kind:

not necessarily that seller, but same item.
they were absolutely dirt cheap compared to name-brand ones, and they do have a power jack so you can run it self-powered like you want (they say they are non-powered as they don't come with power supplies, but specify they have a 'power tap', which as I found out when I got mine, does mean an external power input). I've never known there to be any serious difference between USB hubs, and these ones have worked fine for me so far so I would recommend them.

That's almost perfect.

I'm looking for a powered hub that is 7 ports. I want the usb cord to be permanantly affixed (I figure the more that can disconnect, the more chance for problems).

I did a quick search on Ebay and didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to keep searching, but if anybody knows where to get what I'm looking for let me know.

And thanks for the reply to my original questions!
