Question LCD screen size for double din opening...???

I tried searching and all that... now it could be because im either an idiot or im just using the wrong keywords... but i cant find the right lcd screen size for a double din opening... i have a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse and it has a double din for the headunit... attached is a picture of an eclipse dash (not mines)

as you can see the opening is tilted inwards which makes it good for viewing the lcd screen... but im getting off topic...

Ok well this is the measurements ive taken from my radio bezel (if thats what its called)... W=7.5in H=4.5in and from oposite corner to oposite corner it measures 8.5in... so my question is... what size screen is that... would it be an 8.5in lcd screen... the openeing looks like its kinda wide... so a lcd screen wit an aspect ratio of like 4:3 wouldnt fit... so would it be a widescreen monitor... as u can tell im lost when it comes to this lcd thing... that seemed to be the only thing i couldnt find...

thanx for your help in advance

im using the 7" lilli. for my double din opening. Width was perfect to the outside of the housing for the screen. it was tall by about a quarter inch, the buttons to the screen end up being covered. This is if you are going ot keep it in its housing. (i made the opening slightly bigger to expose the buttons)

If you intend to pull the screen from the housing, or custom mold it into the dash you can do an 8 in. With an eight inch, The screen part itself will be the size of the double din opening with out the housing.

So basically what I should get is a 7 inch if i want to keep it in its housing and just mold it into the dash , but if i want to take apart the screen and put it behind the radio trim... i should get an 8inch... how hard would it be to relocate the buttons to another part of the trim... and what exactly are the dimensions of a carputer... would that fit behind the screen where the radio would go... If im still askin newbie questions i apologize but i just would like the input of people that have actually done this b4 i begin to take apart my car and order things... any input would be greatly appreciated... So go wild and tell me what you think i should know, and if anyone has any links to threads i should read... i would appreciate it... thanx alot and hopefully soon i should have a "carputer"

You're actually putting the cart before the horse.
You're concerned about fabrication and aesthetics before you even have working equipment.

Get it to function first, then make it look pretty.

Well im not at all too worried about getting the carputer to function... I am very good with computers and getting it to work doesn't seem to be the hard part... the hard part seems to be making the screen look good and fit right... So basically im just trying to get the hard stuff done first... and Im just looking for the right things to buy... so I can have all my parts b4 i start the install... Plus i was alwayz the guy that had the bodykit b4 the car... lol...

Well everyone thanx for your help... And if you think i should read anything... please let me know... or leave a link... and ill check it out... thanx agaian everyone...

7in or 8in should work fine. I'm installing one into my cousin's car soon. There is a thread on ABS plastics that gives you more than just ABS help. There's urethane as well.
