OK. You've got two posts and this is in the Newbie forum, so I'll go light on you.
Go to the FAQ Emporium and do some reading before you start asking more questions that have already been answered a dozen times or more.

as for the housing for the pc, the particular case I had allowed the part the motherboard sat on to slide out so I just mounted that on a piece of plywood.

as for the dvd and usb
as you can tell from the pictures i used a block of wood and fill most of the covering and then used bondo to fill the rest (lots of sanding and fiddeling around with)

If you want to carry on a private conversation, there are accomodations for that. You posted questions in a public forum, therefore responses are going to come at you from whoever chooses to answer them.

A lot of people have put forth a great deal of effort to provide a common repository for information about vehicle PCs, installations, hardware, etc. I'm pointing out that repository of information to you because of your newbie status, Mr. Three Posts.

The business of everyone on this forum is the sharing of information, ideas, thoughts, opinions, and occasionally some bull****.
The information I'm sharing is the location of the FAQ Emporium where you can gain lots of insight into your project.
The idea that I'm sharing is that you make use of this repository and learn something.
the thought I have won't be shared because I'm trying to be nice.
The opinion I'm sharing is that you're attitude sucks ***.
I'll leave the bull**** for the Off Topic forum.

I found some usb extention cables 15' long and for the dvd drive I had to get a slim dvd connector to IDE and then a IDE to USB connector and for the vga i used two 10' cords

FYI
you should try searching first, all this info is on here
i'm just bored so i'm responding

Did you read the FAQ or look at the project forum? The answers are ready for you to read.

The research might even give you more ideas on functions and controls that will be nice to have.
