Punch 160.4 Amp wont Power unless REM cable is touching Amp casing.

I wired a Punch 160.4 into my car and have the REM running off my Pioneer DEH-1550 Rem Accessories connection and have a seperate power cable to the B+ on the amp as well as a good earth but the only way i can get the amp to power up is if the REM connnector is bent down & touching the external metal case of the amp. I know its wired correctly. Can anyone tell me if this is safe or if it means i have a lose connection inside the amp.
