screen in-dash or mounted on dash

What are people's opinions of benefits and disadvantages of each?
I've looked through quite a bit of completed projects and it seems everybody is choosing in dash screen placement.

Here is what I see so far:
In dash:
Pros: look's OEM, harder to steal?
Cons: stuck with 7" screen,

Mounted on dash:
Pros: can have screen larger than 7"
Cons: easy theft unless unmounted

What else?

You pretty much have it. Fabricating a screen into the dash is a tougher road to travel... But makes for a nice install. It also is cheaper, in most cases, than a flip out vga monitor. Another factor is that some people just don't have the room to fabricate a monitor into the dash. I am fabricating a screen into the dash for the pc and also doing a flipout for dvds and stuff.

There are many around here that have 8" screens flush mounted in the dash, and there are a few have have ever bigger. It all depends on what space you have avalaible and how do you want it to look in the end. For a more OEM look a 7" screen is the way to go.

Yeah, as above.
I am trying for the indash setup in my new 2006 honda odyssey, but the pedastil option is a backup.
