Will this (Ebay) System have heat problems?
http://cgi.ebay.com/CARPUTER-CAR-PC-...QQcmdZViewItem
Item number: 8795674856
This has been listed several times on Ebay, it uses a modified ITX case, and it looks like an ATX MB?
This has a celeron chip at 2 GH don't those run hot? I placed a bid the other day but then got scared after reading another ebay listing that said using faster processors will melt. First I was thinking the celeron was a moble chip, but now I don't think it is?
I have a 2nd chance offer but it's only good for about 12 more hours. Please advise?
Thank You,
Jay

I wouldn't worry about melting.... However, system stability is what you should be concerned about.
The Celeron 2.0ghz will draw about 55w of power. With the notebook drive, this would work well with an Opus 150w. You might consider an M2ATX and/or DSATX for power just to be on the safe side. You could also underclock/undervolt the CPU a bit to gain some power savings. Realistically, I don't think you'd have a problem wither way.

i dont think its really a celeron chip. it looks more like a C3 chip made by Via.

I agree with you, you can see it in MOTHERBOARD SPECS:
<<Embedded C3 2.0Ghz CPU>> i don't think is a celeron like descripted on top of page.

also C3 procs are rated differently. a 1.3ghz is equal to that of a 800mhz intel. so i assume the 2ghz is probably around a 1.2~1.3ghz

I bought a Car PC on eBay in September, its about the 300th thing I bought and the only one I didn't get. The seller did send something but UPS delivered it to the wrong address. When I called UPS they said that the delivered it to the wrong address, but the seller had to file the claim. I was comunicating with the seller, and he said he'd send me a check when he got his money from UPS. I still tried to open a claim with paypal, I explained in the claim that I had a tracking number that said delivered but when I called UPS they told me they delivered it to a different address. Paypal closed the claim, I should have used a credit card insted of the ATM.
After 4 months the seller stopped responding to my email, and it's too late to leave bad feedback or file a claim.
I alreaded have wires going from my battery to under my seat, and a touchscreen 7" VGA monitor and a pci-wifi/bluetooth card with an external antena, so I really feel like I should finish this project inspite of the fact that I lost over $300 on a bad ebay transaction.
I decided against buying this one, because I think the two GB part of the listing is missleading. He got negitive feeback from the last person he sold one too because it only came with 256, which is in the listing if you read it carefully but I think the title is deceptive, maybe the speed is too.
Someone else has one with a M2-ATX power supply, though it isn't listed as being as fast, it might be as fast and has a better power supply. I don't think it came with a HD though, but I can get one of thoese from next to nothing.
Thanks for the replies guys
