I interpret that as saying he will not power the whole PC from the signal wire for the radio. He says he's going to run the main power from a separate line from the battery.

nooo. im NOT going to power the psu from the radio 12v line, that is dangurus and hell. im going to run a 4 gauge wire from battery to a distro block. then a 8 and 10 gauge wire from the distro block the the amp and psu. im only going to tap into the switched 12v line which is in my radio harness. this would make the most sence because the radio harness has the leads i need for the speakers so i can connect them to the amp and not cut into any factory wiring.

EDIT: He's not looking to power the system through the IGN like I inially assumed. He's simply looking for an easy way to have remote turn on for the PSU & amps. This is in reponse to EsKaLad's question:

The thing is that (I thought) his initial goal was to run the system off this wire/connection. Same thing would apply if he went to the fuse box. That line simply cannot push the amount of power to (safely) run a PSU. It is not a thick enough gauge wire. He'd run the risk of a fire trying to run a moderate amount of power through a (probably) 16 or 18-ga wire. To supply he needs a line going straight to the battery with a wire atleast 12-ga in size (perferably 10-/8-ga for just the PSU; thicker for PSU & amps). Either tapping behind the stereo or at the fused can be used as a remote tigger (turn car on, equipment turns on).

no dude i am going to run a 4 gauge line from the battery, i need a ign line, so i will use the switch 12v radio line (that is the line that turns your radio on when you start your car)

i will use this connect and i will have leads for every thing and not cut and factory wire

I know where you're going with it. I made a typo in the last post (corrected). I think at the beginning I was under the impression that you were wondering if you could simply run power through the IGN wire. You're on the right track with running the 4-ga for power and using the IGN wire for remote turn on.

ok cool, hey you just reminded me that i need an ign wire for the amp also. how would i go about doing that? theres an anti-thump feature on the psu right? so if there a terminal i can connect the amp wire to on te psu?

Remote wire and input is simply +12VDC (no ground needed).

It is similiar to a relay. When the input receives the +12VDC (when you turn on the car), the relay makes the connection between the power and ground on the amp thus turning it on.

If your PSU has a built-in amp thump thingie that's too cool. I'm actually going to need to hook up a delayed relay timer to delay the input to the remote of the amp until after the soundcard on the computer has initialized in order to prevent the thump.

I'll put the +12VDC IGN wire in to the relay and after the timer has elapsed it will close the circuit and pass the voltage in to the amp remote input.
