Problem with rear speakers in car

Gday,

JUst wondering if anyone could help me with some troubles with rear speakers in my car. I installed them yesterday, originally the car didnt have rear speakers. I connected the left speaker + to a purple wire which comes from the cd player saying rear left" + " and the same with the right side. I then grounded the other wire. When I went to turn on the cd player however, there was no sound from any of the 4 speakers. I then went on unplugging the positive wires from the rear speakers, then the sound magically worked again. Then I plugged them back in and all four speakers worked!!!. I need to do this everytime I start the car.... Does anyone know whats hapening here?

Sorry about the long post....

Thanks

I'd rewire from the begining using electrical tape for every joint. Use solder for every splice. It seems like you could be shorting to ground somewhere which is activating a saftey circuit in the headunit to cut power to all speakers. (Hence, you disconnect, allieve short, reconnect, works, then breaks again later)
