I found out that I can get a decent AM/FM tuner for a carputer from the MP3Car store, though i'm not 100% sure that it will work with Australian frequencies yet?
So what i've got left to work out is:
Where to find a decent motorised in-dash touchscreen?
And being that i've found that tuner i'll run the system without a headunit, so i'll need to use amps, (i'm getting a new amp for my sub so i'll move my current sub amp to my front speakers (my rears would still be an amped though so i'd need to get a small 2 channel amp or get a 4 channel amp and replace my current 2 channel).
Now if i'm going to run with a headunit how can i do i control the volume (I know i could do it on the computer but i'd prefer to have a hardware volume control

) Do i use a preamp for this? How can i do such SQ things as time alignment, crossover, etc Do i use a processor such as the alpine hx701 (i think thats the code)?
Is there any new gps software based on Destinator PN yet? I have got both destinator 3 and PN for my pocket PC and i have found PN to be much eaiser to use. But i've never used any of the front ends for carputers yet (freedrive and mapmonkey)
I'm not currently aware on any methods to allow dual zone entertainment... I'd like to be able to have it so that i could be using gps software or listening to music in the front, and the rear passengers could be watching a DVD or playing a game. I don't want to have to drag the window from the front screen to the rear screen each time. I guess an easy "cheat" way would to get a PS2 or Xbox for the rea, and have multi source monitors where the back passengers just select which source they want to watch. That would give DVD and gaming capabilities but they wouldn't have all the pc features. Is there any other way?
