It's the whole reason I wrote that thread. To help alleviate some of the stress from having to type the same things over and over again. Helps to prevent flaming I think.

my eyes almost gone, I read every thing u told me about and iam not gonna lie to u but I didnt understand every thing. There was alot of information i didnt know about, I have 2 questions
1. Is it good to use a Laptop to get what I need ?? (high quality sound, internet )
2. What do i need to buy in generally? (LCD, etc.)
I know my questions looks stupid
thank u

1) no one will know the answer to that but yourself. That would be like asking what would be the best car for you to get? No one knows that but yourself.
Sound quality and internet are not dependant upon the platform that you chose (laptop v. desktop style solution)
2) That first link outlined everything you just asked for: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...24&postcount=8
The questions you asked are not necessarially stupid, they just seem to tell me that you really haven't done any reading.
If you think you;ve spent a lot of time reading, when you've really only spent at most 6 and a half hours, you've got a lot more reading to do.
This hobby is not something you just jump into head first and start to swim immediately. It takes a lot of patience and a lot of research.
Your questions are like asking 'What CD player should I go with?" or "What subwoofer should I go with?"
There is not a single diffinitive answer to this. That's what makes this hobby so appealing to many people. It's individualized.

is anyone else noticing a trend here... it seems that most of the posters who are inclined to add "please help me" to their posts actually have no interest in being assisted and just want to be spoon fed.

The questions aren't stupid, they're just impossible to answer. It's sort of like asking somebody what kind of house you should buy or what kind of person you should marry. The answer depends on what you're looking for.
There is a wealth of information available in this forum and by doing the research you will eventually be able to answer your own questions. I know that I spent at least fifty hours reading before I finally figured out the system design that I wanted.
That being said, I think you'll find that a laptop-based system will be more difficult to use and much less customizable than a desktop-based system.

Sorry, Red, my response mirrored yours. I guess you were typing a little faster than I was.

I read everything I could, looked at dozens of installs and saw what other people had already done (re-inventing the wheel sucks), planned for 3 months, read some more, bought my equipment, read more, set it up on my kitchen table, read some more, had the whole install done in a weekend basically.
Look at the FAQ's, look at the "Worklogs" and :Show off your Project" forums for some great info. Don't forget the links at the top.
