OKay guys..long day..spent some time searching google and got lots of ads to buy things..but no answery. My HD in my laptop is a enhanced IDE - does that mean it is compatible with this ATA-6 I keep seeing everywhere?

Yes, it will work. You'll need an adapter to connect it to a standard IDE cable, of course.

Thanks guys. Not sure a cable is what I am looking for in terms of the laptop. Would be difficult to get the HD back into the laptop with an extra adapter cable. Will keep looking for a cheap IDE HD.

You simply remove the IDE adapter and put it back into the laptop.

Desktop IDE drives are dirt cheap. You can get 300GB drives for under US$100 if you look for deals.
