Basically I wanted an in car system with tons of features and room to expand. I hated how aftermarket Navs had incomplete maps, were slow, and charged $250 for updates.
My friend spent $2800 on one such system (without an amp or speakers)
So I'm taking the plunge into new territory....
I already have GPS + Software, I've been running a Gsat BT 359 with RouteBuddy off of a laptop.
I will be moving my Griffin Powermate into the car.
and then there's the shopping list:
1 - MacMini $599
2 - 7" TouchScreen (Lilli or Xenarc, not sure) $250-$400
3 - Alpine MRA-F350 $200
5 channel Digital Theater car amplifier
50 watts RMS x 5
4 - Mac Power Cable Kit $15

5 - CNX-P1900 DUAL OUTPUT 140 WATT INTELLIGENT DC-DC POWER REGULATOR $100

Worries:
1 - Monitor Mounting... This was the most intimidating part, since I want it looking OEM.... but these forums have already helped a lot
Rdiggidy did a beautiful job with his screem

2 - Connecting to the amp.... it just seems too easy.....................
3 - No Radio..... after switching the double din to be my screen, I will have no room left for a radio. Any HD radio adapters to work with a computer? I think the record companies are keeping us from that one
How about a mini-radioreceiver? Or one that can be controlled remotely?
That's pretty much it... If anyone sees any glaring omissions on what I'll need, I'd appreciate the advice. And if anyone happens to have a runner, that'd be pretty sweet too
Thanks
Alex
