Touchscreen or ?

I am sure there is a thread that deals with this but,
I am about to make my second CarPC and I am looking at input options.
On the first unit I made after trying touch-pads, trackballs, etc, I ended up using a x10 rf pc remote to control it. It worked well when driving. I had a wireless keyboard and mouse as well. The unit is in a mini-van an you can sit in the back and use the system.

On the next system that I am making I am going to install in my car. I am looking at using a touchscreen. I have heard about issues with screen smudging and scratching when using a touchscreen. I am looking for some advice on a good way to control my CarPC.

Thanks

I suggest getting a touchscreen monitor and using the remote control aswell for the backseat passengers. About the smudging and scratches it's not so bad. The oil from my fingers does get over my screen. As well as dust and everything else. I find that the cloth that came with the screen (little soft cloth in a zip lock bag) works really well for cleaning it. I just turn off the screen as not to randomly press buttons, and then wipe it down for about 10 seconds. Then it is clean again, and easier to see in the daylight too because no dust to diffuse the light. I don't have any scratches in my screen. As long as you clip your finger nails, it should be fine! I however have turned off gestures in RoadRunner, so I am not dragging my finger around all the time. I usually just tap with the tip of my finger, or push harder with the fingerprint section of my finger (whatever that part is called). The only time I drag my finger accross is when I am in explorer (not IE, just the desktop and such) and dragging and dropping folders and such.
