Yes it will say low profile. Look in the mp3car store for examples. It is hella expensive compared to regular ram.

8awg wire I used for various things such as the screen's power and the splice off the ignition to feed the smart part of the PSU, the shutdown controller.
You will need 8awg minimum fused and running to your battery directly. Do not splice a dash wire to be the main supply for your computer.

I wonder if it might be better if I go with an external slim USB optical drive.
Yes. That was actually what my very very first post was. The connector on the drive is called a JAE50 connector. Basically a really tiny IDE cable, analogue audio cables, and power cable rolled into 1 connector. So you can either get an adapter to go from JAE50 to IDE that screws into the back as a PCB, or you can get an enclosure for about $5 more and go directly from JAE50 to USB. Definately go USB. You will not have room in the ampie case for it. It may look like you have room. But you don't. You really don't.

The RAM is not low profile. Won't work in that case.
Here is low profile RAM. 512Mb is 90Euro's or $100.
Looks like this: notice the size. 0.8" total height.

Basically it is the same height as those white clips that hold in the RAM.

Unfortunatly, I highly doubt anyone will see it.. I think I may go with the Morex 3688 and just install the drive in that.. That way, I dont have to mess with buying more expensive ram or a 2.5" USB enclosure

What do you mean?

Well, I ordered everything except the head unit. I'm going to go to Circuit City or Best Buy and look at them. I can't seem to find anything online (within my price range) that has rear inputs..
Wish me luck!

Yeah, the Morex 3688.. I like the idea of the Ampie, but it just seems like there are a 1000 things to do to accommodate to the case. I'm not too strapped for space, so even though the Morex is a little bigger, I should still be fine..
If not, I just may not use a case all together. There is another guy with a the same car as mine who installed his computer under the dash without a case.

I built a case to go in my dash out of the extra bass wood I had from high school projects! I took it out and burned it because it was annoying to continuously take it out and tweak stuff. This was my beginning phase so it was still going together.
THen I just built a stand with no enclosure out of the strips of bass wood from the same old project, and stuffed it under my seat. Worked well until the evil spirit demons took over my car and the PC would freeze every time I got up from my seat.
So I stuck it in a cardboard box (where it is now) and it works fine. I am building a custom plexi case and if that doesn't work out VeritasForge will be making me one!

Its all trial and error.. I kind of figured no matter what case I buy, it still wont be the right one for my car and I'll end up making something.

Man, today has been like Christmas all over again!! My first installment of parts came in (XM, Screen, HD, CD, RAM, and power cabling). I'm trying to plan in advance as much as possible so everything will go smoothly.
I do have one question. I'll be running XM, GPS, CD Drive, HD, and motherboard off of the M2-ATX. Will the M2-ATX have enough power to run the screen also?? I know power will be more stable this way but I want to make sure the PS has enough juice..
Any help?
