It's an operating system similar to UNIX, but compiled for x86 hardware.

But to be honest, I dont know how to program it.

6yr old first install died 20/8/2005 as result of bad bios flash.

New system : 6x5x2" contains 1GHz C3 PCM9373, ISR based PSU, 8Gb flash DOM, 98Lite, DirectShow based frontend.
GPS : Rikaline 6010.
Display : LTM08C351 + LVDS receiver.

Thanks for making my day!

I suggest latching onto a Linux distribution (they're free to download), setup a test machine, and start going through Running Linux from O'Reilly. It's a great resource, and will assist you in accomplishing specific tasks in Linux.
It does not get into programming, but it will give you a good platform.

If you're already past this level, then ignore me.

No problem sir!

Heres the deal. Rio Sonicblue Empeg version two with the blue colored plate.

My brother already loaded some firmware onto that *****. The thing is, it shouldnt be that much of a hassle to install right?

*Edit - More specifically, the device shouldn't be too hard to program once I install it into my vehicle right?
