Please help me with this monitor

Hi,
I'm not so sure about the terminology and I'm wondering if someone can take a quick look at this
http://cgi.ebay.com/7-Car-Monitor-To...QQcmdZViewItem
and please let me know if it's possible to get a carputer (from the MP3car.com store) to connect to it.
Can you also tell me what I would look for to see if a monitor would connect to a carputer.

Also Please list other monitors that have AM/FM built in. The second reason I haven't started a project is because I must have AM/FM (it's where I spend most of my time), the first, of course, is that I'm still learning, and there seems to be no end to the info...

Thanks

Check the FAQ for lots of info.

First if you want touch screen for a carputer you wont get it with that system. It may have video input but then you would need your carputer to have video out (not to be confused with VGA out) And the touch screen probably only controlls the unit itself and not a carputer system.

Check mp3car.com store for touch screen monitors. You will find xenarc and liliput screens are common to most mp3car users.

ebay do a search for "car touch screen" or "VGA touch screen" VGA will give you better video. Standard composite NTSC Video (commonly mis-called RCA video) does not look good from a carputer to 7 inch display.

If you want to spend some real money you could try this
http://store.mp3car.com/ProductDetai...Code=SDK%2D007

Search around the site some more before you start buying things. Plan everything out. It may cost some money. But much less then if you just start buying random crap that you wont need, or underpowered.

Probably want to plan for: LCD screen(VGA), Good power supply based on how much your system draws, how much processor power you will need to do what you want(ie video games music gps internet phone fm camera etc) dvd needs about 1ghz to run smooth, Controll(be it touch screen, mouse, keyboard), and then turn on/shutdown controller(if disired)

Hope this helps a little.

You need to do some searching. We're not here to research products for you. That's your role in this whole vehicle PC odessey.

That is a headunit, not simply a monitor. Can you use a vehicle PC with it? POSSIBLY. You can display video on it, but it will be poor quality, as it's only got composite video input (that yellow RCA plug). The touchscreen won't control the PC.

Most VGTA monitors don't have AM/FM tuners. There are a couple, but they are also poor quality tuners, from what I understand. I don't have any firsthand experience with them, so I can't say for certain.

As was pointed out previously, you have much to learn. Here are some links to resources that are excellent starting points:
Newbie FAQ http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/newbie/78795-new-carpcs-dont-know-where-start.html
FAQ To The FAQs http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/faq-emporium/51489-attention-newbies-faq-faqs.html

That should get you started. When you're a little bit better versed and have made some decisions and such, I suggest doing some advanced research int he FAQ Emporium http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/faq-emporium/

Thanks Guys,
The faqs are very helpful and I'm putting them to good use. It's just that unit was listed with all the goodies but something told me not to trust it but I was lacking the detail needed to figure it out.

Thanks and regards
