New...but long time watcher

OK I have been watching MP3Car.com for a LOOOOOONG time. I rememeber I found out about it when I worked for Adelphia Communications as a Technical Support Tech and was like...WOW...I like! So I wanted to do it. It has been a while since then...but I still want to do it. So I decided to wait...never really got to serious to do it...plus couldn't ever do it the way i wanted to...until now. I am going to do it now. So I have been looking at info on the forums and doing my research. I have a notebook in my stash that has some issues that I don't use it for a notebook anymore but the issues may be fixable now that I ahve time to work on it. So I am thinking about using it as the first CarPuter I make. It ahs TV output...has a DVD drive, wifi...well lets just say it is loaded pretty well. The screen is huge so I am thinking I won't end up using it. I am going to be doing the install in my 2001 Chevy Tracker.

This is the beginng of my path for now...

Get power into the car - If i understand it correctly the best way to do this is to have a 12 v constant and a 12v Ignition available. The ground should I take it from the battery or the chassis?
