Electric Gas / Oil struts ?

I'm looking for someway to open and shut my bonnet / boot / trunk via a simple button on the dash.. a bit like an electric window.. up and down type thing.. at the moment it has 2 simple gas struts there.. does anyone know if you can do this ?

you have at least 2 options :

one which is a bit DIY, take wipers motor with a kind of winch or wheel you mount on it's axis or you buy with this wheel already mounted on the wiper's motor (don't know if it's the right word) using steel wire you can have a cheap system, the wiper motor will allow to have a slow move with enough torque.

second option is a mechanical strut made of an infinite screw, this screw is moving with a tiny electrical dc motor too mounted directly on the screw axis.
You can google and find it i'm sure, i'm not enough familiar with english words to find it for you but i think you see what i'm talking about.

I think Kane on DC is prbably one of the best people to ask.

After all he was part of the Behemoth team.

It's called a 'linear actuator'. You can find them in various sizes, up to large enough to lift a pickup truck cap.
