General Networking Question

Hey guys! I got a job at this doctor's office fixing computers. One of the things they want me to do is network these two rooms that aren't networked yet. My question is this: is it possible to hook up a regular Ethernet cable to a switch and have it act like a switch, or will it not work considering the Ethernet cable comes from another switch?

TELL MP3CAR YOU WANT A LINK TO THE FAQ IN A MORE OBVIOUS, NOTICABLE LOCATION HERE.

You should be able to daisy chain switches. To a point. And yes it would be regular cable from an output on the main switch to the input of the secondary switch.

edit: I was too slow! Stupid badger claws getting stuck in the keyboard!
