What car alarm is the "best" for my needs

Greetings all,

I did a quick search before posting this to make sure it hasn't already been covered. OK, I have a '91 Chevy Suburban with power locks. The truck already has an alarm, but it's pretty old. I want to replace the alarm with a new unit that's more effective than the existing one. I'd like to have remote start and 2-way paging, along with at least 1 shock sensor, preferably two, and some type of motion detection device, in addition to the standard starter/fuel pump kill circuit, siren, lights flash, all the good stuff. It's a big truck, so if someone's trying to break into the back of the truck, I would imagine that the impact would be dampened by the time the shock got to the front. Also, the truck has 2 huge windows, one on each side, that someone could break and crawl through. Sincde I'm going to have lots of money's worth of equipment in and on the truck, I want to protect it with the very best alarm on the market. I'm not going to say I want to do this cheap, since quality does cost a lot of money, but at the same time, I'd rather use a cheaper alarm providing it still provides an equal amount of protection and feature set. Thanks for your reccomendations.

I love the python 990 its like 600 including basic install at circuit city

does that model support multiple sensor inputs? it doesn't look like it....

i've heard good things about the python 990 as well. My boy has it, and he says its pretty solid. good luck

any alarm will support as many sensors as you'd like to hook up to it, the variables will be the amount of seperate "zones" that will help you identify which sensor actually tripped, but more than one sensor can be attached to one zone easily, so that shouldn't be a factor.

as far as the "best", within reason, I'd recommend the compustar 2wss-as, it's spread spectrum 2 way & has over 1/4 mile range... most fm units are no anywhere near this kind of range... dei also has a spread spectrum system in there cliford lineup which is probably somewhat on par with the compustar, although i like compustars build quality better...

the 990 uses sst

they avertise a 1 mile range but its more like 1/2 that thing has more inputs and outputs than most people know what to do with
