windows 98 boot cd (not diskette)
ever since I got into the whole MP3 thing I have formatted and messed with the partitions on my few hard drives quite a bit... the process is a life draining suckubus like process that will probably end up killing me.....
You guys know how you can boot off the windows 98 second edition cd rom.... I want to make a bootdisk of my own that boots like that... I want to put all my 98lite setup files on it and a few programs.... I have been looking at nero's boot cd option but i really dont know where to begin because there is very little to almost no documentation on it.... I'm not sure what I Can and Cant do.... can you guys/gals help me out?

after doing more searching i found a program that might help me
"Does WinISO support bootable CD?"
Yes, WinISO supports bootable CDs perfectly. WinISO can not only could edit a CD image file without destroy its bootable information but can also add bootable information to a CD image file to make it bootable!
thats from there web site... So I was wondering what you guys think this mean... does this means i can take a bunch of files that i want to throw on a cd turn them into an image file and then make that image file bootable? only thing im wondering about that is will I have cd rom drivers loaded this way... cause ill need em to use the cd rom

easiest way i have found to make boot cd that i use to repair puters is to have windows make a boot floppy then use nero burning rom there is a option to make a bootable in the are where you choose what kinda disc you want to make if you read the screens you ca figure out what it needs as it pulls the boot info from the flopy and puts it on the disc also you can add files to the cd as well like 98 and whatever else
hope that helps some

EasyCD creator does the same thing. For my job I've created some custom floppy boot disks for ghosting from either the cdrom or a network source automatically, and I just had to tell easycd to make the cd bootable from the floppy.

hey Machs_FueL
what size hard drive you got because whenever i try to partition or format my hard drive from dos I cant get passed the 8 gig limit for my 30 gig hard drive. I read somewhere that you have to be in fat32.
Does anyone know of a program that can be used after booting with the 98 recovery disk to partition or format in FAT32 to take advantage of the additional disk space?
Thank you soooo much to any that can help
Jake

2.1gb is the fat16 limit. 8gb was a hardware limit back in the p1/early2 days. Theres no easy work around. The drive manufacturers had ways of making it work, or adding a pci ide controller.
