RIMS that have LCD tyop feature!
I saw these on car domain....they are so cooooooooool. Basically you interface with the rims some how and program them to display a image. Here is a link, I wonder if they make them for other rims.... If they make a universal kit for any rim, Im buying them.
LCD RIMS moving!
PS: OMFG the rims cost 14, 000.00 dollars..... maybe we can make a kit that can go on any rim, for a cheaper price?

That's not bad. I ordered a set of these pimpstars for a customer little over a year ago and they were $30K+ for the 30" set. He then proceeded to waste my time weekly for the next couple months reprogramming the stupid images.

LMFAO, Are they a mission to reprogram? How do they get power? Batteries? I saw a desktop fan that had this technology, except its only 400.00 dollars. Wonder if it can be taken apart and made into something similar.

If this results in a duplicate post, I will delete the extra.
For a solution which will cost you far less than $30'000, you may be able to adapt this bicycle oriented kit:
http://www.instructables.com/id/Spok...-Wheel-Images/
Things to keep note of:
- The gear is oriented towards adapting to and measuring bicycle wheel speeds. It may take some work to adapt this to a car (speed measurement/adjustment and balance etc...)
- This would likely be illegal in some places like some/all beadlock rims once mounted on a car
- This is a self contained unit and not meant to have the image replaced "on the fly".
You may be able to talk to the developer and see if he'd customize the kit for your actual usage for a nominal cost.
Cheers,
orGSD

I love this kind of stuff
And, not trying to rain on anyones parade, but be aware that emitting any color light from the side of the car (except the oem yellow side marker in front and the oem red side marker in back for the year car you are driving) is a violation of VTL. Its up for debate whether you would actually get pulled over for it or written, but its something to think of. (I drive a ticket magnate (looks like its speeding when its parked) so I have to think about these things). Just a heads up.

While I won't contest your mentions of the legality of such a project as I haven't researched it (and I don't intend such a project myself). I will say that I have seen plenty of vehicles which do not comply with what you outlined. These range from most all "modern" limousines, to signage/advert vehicles, to semis, to neon endowed cheapies. The "everyone else is doing it" defense is about as lousy as they come, but I just wanted to point out that at least around here (Oregon) non OEM lights shining to the side are not uncommon.
Now that I think of it actually, my FJC has OEM white lights which go off to the side although only about 30 degrees from driving line.
I am glad you've cautioned the thread though. Now if someone does get a ticket, they were warned
Cheers,
orGSD

Come to think of it , you're right. Never realized the Semi Truckers use of those new led lighting pucks in this aspect. LOL around here some of them look like a house decorated for christmas they have so many lights on them :-) And they have to be card carrying members of the club Im in (the ticket magnate association), being in a semi and being on the road all the time.
It was meant as more of a "the nail that sticks out usualy gets hammered" type of thing. It depends on how you conduct yourself.
Some guys can drive around all day with a small infraction and because of the way they drive and conduct themselves they will never get cited for it.
Others are . . .shall we say . . .unique individuals, who probably dont need the extra attention.
Those in the latter group probably shouldnt be handing the le community probable cause to stop them because if they are stopped and they handle it poorly, they may wind up with considerably more to worry about than the lighting infraction.
Whatever, as I said, I love this type of stuff :-)
