Is it legal to setup an online account for Car Donation New York for a personal car?
I fell asleep behind the wheel on a country road, and woke up when my car went flying thought the air (Drove through the ditch) I lost a wheel and completely destroyed my '98 Malibu.
Is it legal to make a website with pay pal to take donations from random strangers? Could donors still make a tax write off?

1. why are you asking that question on this forum?
2. what would make you think that "random strangers" would paypal you donations?
3. I would assume that it's perfectly legal to make a website asking for donations as long as you're truthful about why you're requesting donations. but nobody is going to donate money to help you buy a new car you because you "fell asleep", totalled your car, and didn't have collision insurance.
3. since you are not a legitimate charity; I don't think donors can legally write off any donation to you.

So you want me and others to pay you, so you dont have to spend as much on a newer car that it is your fault you crashed... Your fault you didnt have insurance... And so it can happen again without the lesson this will be. It will make the next time of falling asleep and running over a picnic with nuns and school children that much easier for you.
So no.

I'll buy you some no-doz, or some 5-hour energy, just because I'm a nice guy. But in the spirit of what others have said, I'd want to make sure it (my sort-of hard earned cash) went to good use. So just PM me your addy and I'll send a little gift basket.

You must be a registered and approved non profit organization in order for anyone to get a tax break.

Nice first post on a forum for people who put computers in their cars. You really think other people should pay for your mistake of being drunk and/or just plain irresponsible?
I hope you can learn something from your mistakes.

check out the science channel (Beyond Tomorrow) they have these glasses that detect when you're tired... for truck drivers... the computer measures how long it takes to open your eyelids on each blink.
A voice tells you, "you are now too tired to drive safely"

Although the application I saw of them was this little camera infront of the driver. Monitors your blinks too. But you dont have to wear glasses.

Too funny, I guess he learned not to add that part about sleeping. It's progress. He'll be informing people of long lost rich relatives in no time now.
