Most of the US national and cable networks put up many of their primetime shows on the internet the day after they air and keep them up for anything from 1 week to entire season. Unfortunately, most use a different proprietary viewer you have to download or you have to create an account on their website or some such nonsense.
I personally have a PCI TV card in one desktop at home that I use as a DVR and use ORB to watch my recordings or LiveTV whenever I'm away. The nice thing about my combo is I can watch all the stations I get on my home cable system from anywhere in the world that I can get on the Internet. So traveling abroad is no problem or at home I can use my cellphone's webbrowser, or my CarPC.

I watch Top Gear on BBC Canada
We have Comcast Cable Internet, Dish Network Sat TV, and Bell Canada Sat TV with dual Hi-def tuner and dual DVR each... We like our tube! So we can watch/record 4 shows at once plus the media center PC which streams BFM TV

well in fear of getting another hit from darquePervert i'm going to say it anyways:
nabolister.com - works as a search engine for tv shows and movies
peekvid.com
blockbustertv.com
veoh.com - requires you to install their free player, but it lets your browse by channels kinda like tv on demand
joost.com - requires you to install their free player, but it lets your browse by channels kinda like tv on demand
