Barefoot Running? Anyone Else Try it?

So as you all know, I've been reading up on barefoot walking and running, and decided to give it a try. Sunday, I walked about 3 miles barefoot around my neighborhood, and up highway 1382. I had minimal soreness, and recovered very quickly. I think this is in part due to my use of the Vibram FiveFInger shoes. Tonight, I got home, and decided to go for another walk, but this time decided to jog about a mile. I can already feel where I may be a little sore tomorrow in my calves. Both trips, no cuts, or anything.

Well your feet are meant to be bare, hence the thick skin there. But running outside in the dirty ickiness on sidewalks, asphalt or otherwise is gross.

Not really. Just wash your feet, and take care of them. Most of the ickyness of smelly feet really come from being confined inside of shoes, a dark, warm moist place for bacteria to grow.

I think the ickyness that our badger is refering to is things like badger droppings dog poo and the such.

Also there's the broken bottles, sharp stones and the like to worry about

kibble will become famous soon enough
Everytime I walk around barefoot I step on a screw

I read your other post about the funky shoes and I was thinking of giving them a shot myself. I can see how they could be comfortable.

The only types of people I see around here that walk around barefoot are usually the 's. And man, they got some funky feet going on!

I can't imagine running barefoot is good for your feet...or legs...or back...

You don't have foot support problems? My ankles would be killing me!

we born naked? or born with shoes on our feet before we where created/evolved? either one or "before" the other its only a good idea to live your life without shoes for more than once. How else are you suppose to know. Make sense? or cents /shrug.
