well, whatever you do, dont let it sit on there for any longer than possible.
i know that on my old car, i had some egg incidents and the spot on the hood never went away. i would say the best way would be to run the car through a car wash. perhaps one of the self operated ones, so that you can focus on the areas that need it. power washing it off, and hand scrubbing it would probably be the best bet.
like i said, the spot on my old car was there forever. i never waxed that car since it was a P.O.S., but i would think that if you had a good coat of wax on it before winter, then it would have protected the paint.
worst case scenario: the paint is damaged... in that case i would say report it to the police. that way, if anyone is caught doing it (by you or someone else), you can have it on record that you were vandalized by these kids. then either get them or their parents to pay for the damages...
best of luck...

Hopefully you have waxed your car recently. That will help prevent damage to the paint.
Use hot soapy water and a soft sponge. Should come off without too much trouble.
Now find the kids who did that and teach them a lesson about respecting other people's privacy. I can provide several examples of such a lesson.

Canned Snow.
I'd personally like to hear some of those examples, having troubles with keeping idiots away from my car at school.
Personally, I use that canned snow you can get around Christmas time. Just spray it on someone's windshield, gives them a hell of a time just getting it off with the windshield fluid.

Wouldnt mineral spirits help get that egg off??
as for examples
1. chocolate chips (tollhouse, etc) do wonders to paint also.
2. go to the hunting section and find fox ****...hunters use if for scent. its the worst smelling stuff in the world. VERY strong!!
use your imagination....

if you go the "fox ****" route, make certain you get that stuff as close to the A/C air intake as possible, and see if you can funnel some of it in through a window crack.

yeah - it's bologna (or baloney)
And the way that works, is that you have to get REAL bologna from a deli or whatnot, and lay them out like polka dots on a HOT day (such that the car is radiating heat)... The bologna will fade the paint underneath it.

Isolation Foam
slightly offtopic, 'cause it's got nothing to do with paint but,)
Around here, we call it Pur-Foam.
It's that greenish isolation foam that REALLY expands when your spray it out off the canister....
Put this foam around all doors....
When they try to open the door, it won't open very easily,
If they manage to open the door, they will tear out all the rubbers....
And while your at it....... spray some in the exhaust.... they can't start the car anymore..
Greetz,

If someone messed with my car, the least of their concerns would be a petty revenge. I'd be out for blood.

Most types of acidic foods, if placed on a car, in the heat, will fade or otherwise discolor paint.
