Connect a 12V battery positive to ground, then negative is -12V
What day is this?

There is no -12 in standard car electrical system.
Modern cars are -ve earth. That means the 'earth'
is the car body.
Earth in a car is 0v NOT -12v.
If you connect across -12 and +12 you get... 24V
(pretty easy maths guys!)
I'm going to go ahead and assume the op is confused or
has brought something for the car with incorrect
instructions!

Polarities are reversed in Australia because it's below the equator! That's what I hear anyway.

That's not technically correct. Electricity flows backwards below the equator. This is because the earth's core is essentially a giant magnet. The electricity flows one direction above the equator -towards the north pole, while below the equator it flows south. It then passes through the earth's core where it helps to heat the center.
The reason everything appears the same down there is they wire the cars according the the AFDJ standard. What we think of as the "minus" side of the battery has a red colored cable attached to it. Inside the car, all would appear normal to anyone installing equipment.

Then what would happen if one take a car from Australia up to some place in Europe... Would all of the electricity get fried?
