Lightbulb 1999 Astra 1.4 16v Saloon--dash!

hey guys just wondering if this is possible. i wan to move my air con controls down from where they are so as to fit a screen in nice and comfy. heres so mock up images:

from that to this roughly.

was talking to a friend of mine and he said it would be trouble to do if it was manual instead of electric, the latter being just moving some wires.

my whole plan rests on this 1 thing! anybody done anything like this before or can link something!!
cheers

Its been done often. check out the worklogs/ . I moved mine (01 sport trac) from its stock location in the dash to the center console with no problems. The blower and temp control are electric and the blower direction was mech linkage crap but no problems to move down. IMHO take a look for yourself. Take it out and see how much room you have to play with the cables then go from there. Just looking at it, it seems like your biggest hurdle would mocking up a face plate for the move which really wouldnt be a big deal. Just check out the Fab forum here. There are some good write ups around working with glass and plastic.
