I'm not sure what exactly you're seeking, but
The Mythical Man Month is an incredibly famous book about project management. It sounds pretty dull, but it's the only book on project management I've ever found interesting. The author worked on one of the very first real mainframes, and chronicles some of the biggest things he learned from it.
While I have no specific love of the author,
The Cathedral and the Bazaar is a very well known book about why people write open-source stuff.
