Honda bodyshop bites hard core

Just my .02 from my own recient experience.

Not paying attention to my driving (computer, supprisingly not a factor) bam - I ugly toyoa into my drivers side door. oops.

Inshurence = total pain in the ***!!! Safe Auto = pile of $h!t
They neglect to process half my claim, so I pay for it out of pocket, and after 2 months am still chasing them down for my $$$

Body shop returns car with :
Broken Windshield not replaced
Cracked Center Console not replaced
Window off track / wont role up
paint EVERYWHERE - lousy job masking car, wheel wells are now white
(along with various pieces of trim that should be black)
Foglights came back non operational - fuse was blown.
mercury switch that used to attach to underside of hood - dangeling

The biggest upset -
AC didnt work after I got the car back.
but it was only non working at low speeds. (wehat the !!?!?)

I think to my self - ok , no way in hell im paying dealer prices- I take it to good year service center. (big mistake)

After a DETAILED description, They immediately inform me the system is overcharged with Freeon coolant. they ask if any work was done on the AC system, I tell them No, just body work, and they said ok, well we can drain and refill the system for 179.00 (turns out they recycle it so thats bu!! $h!t anyway)
So I smile and knodd, and say " I really dont think thats the problem, is there a garentee / warentee on the work ?" they ashure me its all covered if it turns out to be something else.

They "flush and recharge the system" 170.00, and send me on my way.
next day, blazing hot, fire up the ac - no go.
I dring it back to good year. They call up and say hey " your freeon is over charged, has anyone worked on the system" i said , NO!, you f#@! ing iddiot , thats what you said last time !!!! they said oops, ok, we will keep looking it over. 3 hours later - it appears some sort of leak stop / sealant was injected inot the line. this is clogging the system. We dont know if it can be cleaned, we cant clean it, we recomend replacing the dryer, compressor , evaporator, and all the lines. I said "your f$%#ing nuts !

Car goes to Honda Service Center..

5 minutews later -
Turns out - they disconnected and painted over 3 (YES 3!!) vital grounding posts causing the compressor cooling fan to not run.

Honda Service Center invoices Honda Body shop for 166.00 for removing masking tape from the washer on the ground wire.

sorry i hate all jap cars. I only like a few. they look so gay with all the things peple are doing to them after the F&F "movie" came out.

LOL whats F&F and the idiots at the garage got to do with you hating those cars?

Put it this way I can hate some cars, like the BMWs, Golf GTis, Vauxhal Nova, Corsa, Renault 5 turbo. It got to have those GT/turbo/injection on it...or even better a "MAXPOWER" stickers at the back

I have never seen one whos not in a hurry, cut you up, race you...they always seems to all drive like an idiots. You will find that after those hard racing they just wanna park the car by KFC which is a few meter away from where they saw you.

When you invite them to go on an open track day...take the corner at 100MPHs, their balls seems to shrink when their hear "race track" and they have to take on the "big boys" and not some old granny whos fallen asleep on the wheel

In UK we have something like MOT, you take your car for a test when its more than 3 years old. The mechanics told me that mine failed as the exhaust emission is too high. I said "ok Ill sort it out myself", he then interupted me and said..."your lambda sensor is gone, we may also needs to change your whole catalyst system that will cost you £400 = 634 USD". I was speechless...he then said "would you like us to carry on with the repair?" I finally recovered from my shock and told him..."but Mr my car dont even have a catalytic converter as it was made before it became compulsory."

I said "the reason why its probably high on emissions now is because I just serviced the car and reset the computer, it needs some time to settle down and set all the right parameter."

He angrily answered me "are you telling me I can just drive around your car in the block and that will fix your problem?" I said "no but its better than changing something that never existed and charge me £400 for it."

LOL what an idiot...thats one reason why I never take my car to a garage if I can help it.

I took the car to my brothers place and meaure the emission level, turn the mixture down a little...problem solved.

I did not attack anyone’s car here, I made a statement that i feel and since I have the right to speak my mind I did so. I rally don't like ford focus and yes I have seen the Movie. But the ratio of jap cars to american made cars that look like the F&F cars is close to 1 to 6.

MY car is not stock, it might me a convertible but it makes eclipse look like a snail. Having 400+hp does help. And the ratio on stock really doesn't matter it is different setups. I rather have a car that sounds strong then sound like a dieing car. So next time you like to attack someone please think about what you say. Thank you and have a good day.

p.s. I going to print this page off its so funny. I have to keep it to look at for a good laugh thanks for helping me out

yes, i did jump to conclusions and i shouldnt have... but refering to japanese cars as "jap cars" does come off as pretty racist in my eyes. maybe not everyone elses, but were all entitles to our own opinions. i bring up WW2 phsychology becuase most of the people around during that time had a deep hatred for the japanese people and anything to do with them... also, a time when the term "jap" was used in a racially negative way. bringing up the past does not make one a racist.

im not trying to start a war here or anything and im gonna drop this right now. so i hope you do the same.

oh, and i do agree with you on the proliferation of stupid looking street racer cars... etc. glad to see you have made something of your car...

I'll add my own horror story, and its a domestic body shop one

I hit a racoon on the highway, and the little bastard managed to do a couple grand of damage to my car. The whole front bumper needed to be replaced, the A/C compressor needed to be replaced, and a few support pieces and splash guards.

So I dropped my car off, and dealt with having to pay for a rental myself as my Insurance company pulled a fast one and said my comprehensive coverage did not allow for a rental even though I had been assured earlier it would..

When I picked up my car? The A/C didnt work. Now, I don't think I am insane in thinking that when you are specifically fixing something, you should TEST it before returning it to the customer. It was a simple fix, but it just showed they didn't even bother to see if it would blow cold air.

A few days later I was driving at night and also noticed that I was lighting up the top of the trees. Turns out when they put the headlights back in after replacing the bumper, they pointed one up at the sky. You can't notice it by just looking, but if they had just checked the angle like anyone would when reinstalling a headlight, it wouldn't be a problem.

Just sloppy work. But hey, at least the bumper got painted
