Question about "bling bling" rims.
So I've seen those rims that have hubcaps that spin independantly from the wheel itself. I've seen some that are just weighted and thats why they spin, but I've also seen others that are clearly powered in some way. How do they do that?

they arent powered, its just an illusion
they are heavy and they are on good bearings and spin for quite a while, I think. They tend to confuse the eye. Unless you are onto something new I have not heard off.

From what I understand, they are bolted on by the lug nuts and spin on a bearing. If you have seen the wedding chapel episode of Monster Garage, (Which I just finished watching. ) they use them on the Suburban.

Maybe it uses the heat dissipated from the brakes to drive a steam powered turbine to keep the spinners spinning.
Actually, I agree with DinoBite. They're on very smooth bearings and the weight of the spinners give the illusion that they're powered and will never stop spinning.

i can imagine someone modding a spinner so it's motorized though. instead of just a bling spinner, make it a chromed propeller. additional airflow to cool the brakes!

Those are nice but also dangerous for curious kids because they may put their finger in between "blade" and spin the cover. Opssss mommmmmm, dadddddd my little finger is under your SUV.

I hope you weren't thinking about buying those. Sure, they're fun... but they're impractical and VERY expensive.

Rim's, Hubcaps, wheels, round thingies. I'm not using them so I don't really care, I was just wondering if some were motorized somehow.
