Multi Monitors
When I see a popup add, I usually hit Alt+F4 or hunt for the X button immediately, but I saw this tonight and just about fell off my chair. Anyone have a couple grand I could borrow?

I'm a little shakey about how the matrox card compares to an NVidia or ATI. The only action demo they show is of Q3 at low res. Hmm...

Yes. Expensive. But, if that turns your crank, then you will need the Kleenex for this one:

Ohhhh.... If I only had $190,350 for a new monitor setup... I love it, in the warranty section, they offer SPARE SCREENS! Ha!
I bet that you could get better LCD's and rig up a cage to hold them for less than what these companies are asking.
It's cool to see what's out there, though. It would be tough fitting them in a car, though!
I'm seriously thinking about a 3-monitor setup. Problem is, if I have 3 high-res monitors, I'm going to need 3 high-res vid cards. Since good 3-d cards only come in AGP, I can only place one in a computer. Are there triple-head NVidia cards out there? Is there software that will sync video cards over a network? I'm guessing the software would have to support it specifically, or no go...

Answered my own question. Lots of information out there if you run a search... It appears that (for kickass video gaming, anyway), you run your high-end AGP card on the main monitor, then pick up a Dual or Quad pci card to run your additional monitors. Seems to make sense...
I don't think that anyone has a Quad AGP card running the latest and greatest NVidia or ATI chips, though. Of course, those cards in the single-monitor form easily run $300 and up. You must have serious balls to buy 3 or 4 of them just for gaming...

Too bad they don't have many games that support dual monitors. Recent multi-monitor article at Tom's HW.
I am running a 19" CRT and a 15" LCD on an nVidia G4 4600. I have the 15" turned to portrait mode and running 768x1024. On it's right, I've got the 19" running 1280x1024. This gives me a desktop of 2048x1024. I love it. I will never run just one monitor on my destop again.
My setup is not perfect though. The 19" is about 1" shorter than the 15", so they don't line up perfectly, but it's pretty close. And both monitors have a pretty wide border, so there is a 3 1/2" gap between my screens.

Here's an example of what I love about dual monitors:
Doing a Google search, I first open Google and move it to the left monitor. I have Google preferences set to "Open links in a new window". I click a site in the Google search, and it opens in a new window on my right monitor. When I'm done with that site, my Google search is still there on my left monitor. Don't have to minimize or switch to another window. I just click on a different site in my Google search, and it opens in the same wiindow that is on my right monitor.
Here is a screenshot of my PC, scaled down 25%.
