Techno
For the longest time I've been listening to rock and rap. But recently I took a trip to the other side of the state, in Seattle, and found a techno station. I liked it right away, but can some of you point me in the direction of some good techno?

I tried to stay away from techno/electronic music, but some catches my ear.
Kraftwerk - old school techno
Royksopp - more mellow
Postal Service - again, on the mellow side
That's all I can recommend myself, otherwise it's punk & ska for me

well... electronic music has the most subcategories of music i have ever seen.
i would recommend checking out www.di.fm (digitally imported radio)
also have a look at www.radikal.com (radikal record label)
www.tidy.com (tidy trax record label)
figure out what you like there, trance, hard tance, vocal trance, house, euro dance, progressive, jungle, techno, electronica, chill, drum and bass, hardcore, acid, etc... there are so many dj's, groups, one-man artists, to list.
ive been getting into hard house lately... not many well known artists.
but some mainstream / non threatening electronic music (easily available):
chemical brothers
crystal method
paul oakenfold
fat boy slim
propellerheads
prodigy

Its not quiet Techno but i love "New Age" which consists of artist like Enya(who many have heard), and Enigma(darker than Enya).
Goa music is also good if you have a good sub.

I love Techo in cars...Not the european kind, but the japanese kind. If anyone saw Initial D series, they'll know what I mean. Fit's perfectly with car action scene. If you think differ, try the american version where they replaced it with Rap. The mood is totally lost.

Heh. I've got something from every one of those artists in my collection.
I lied, I love the video for "Where's Your Head At" but I don't own the song.
Also, there's Robert Miles for for mellow stuff.
Rob Dugan is good too. He does a wicked remix of Children by R.M.
Speaking of Techno and Underworld, For those that have seen the Gumball 3000 videos, I've got two version of them. One has Shudder by Underworld. The other video, I don't know the song. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Otherwise, try some of the compilation Tecnho/Trance House stuff. Drum & Bass is really cool sometimes too.

Dune is (or was, I don't know anymore) a popular techno artist in the US. Seriously ask one of those idiots with the pacifiers, baggy pants, tight netting shirts that's all hopped up on "E" they'll let you know what's good techno.
By the way, I like techno, I hate druggies.

Yea Dune is pretty good, althought many "hardcore" techno fans would disagree and blow her off as "happy hardcore". I like her.
