Insomnia

Does anyone have a cure for this?

I start classes at 7 15, and I still can't get to sleep on time. I end up running late a lot. I wont be able to get to sleep until 2 or 3, even after working at an understaffed restaurant for 6 hours. Does anyone know of a good way to cure insomnia?

I've tried:

- Staying away from caffeine
- Staying away from sugar
- Waterbed
- Big comfy body pillow
- Milk
- Vigorous excercise hours before
- Lots of warm blankets
- Sleeping in a more mentally comforting spot (even the damn car)
- Bath

None of it works!

In college we get into this problem alot. Durring the weekend your sleeping schedule gets so messed up that you stay up to 4 in the morning every night and still can't sleep. Then you end up only sleeping 3 hours before class. However there is one cure that most college students turn to .... Beer.

Seriously try excercising in the morning, it will make your body more tired at night, exercising later screws up your sleeping even more. I would get back from lacrosse practice at midnight durring the winter and not fall asleep until 7, morning excercise helps a whole lot more.

If you really have insomnia you should see a doctor, they can give you nice pills that will knock you out As far as what you tried, here is a suggestion (but its kind of dangerous so consult your doctor, and I will not be responsible if something happens). Caffeine in certain doses "wakes" a person up, however every person has a limit and after that limit is reached caffeine has quite the oposite effect. You can try taking 2 caffein pills (make sure your heart is healthy though, and see my disclaimer above ).

Also when you drink milk (make sure its warm, otherwise its pointless) take a teaspoon of honey with it.

As the last resort get drunk to the passing out stage, and so you would not have a hangover take chasers (the pills)

I can't stand alcohol. Co-workers have tried to get me to drink at least 5 or 6 times, and I still haven't. Not to mention I'm underage.

Thats even more brilliant than what I wrote Except you should never go to sleep if you have a concusion, you can slip into coma.

I know, it wasn't so much the concusion that did it, it was the medication that the doctors gave me at the hospital. God bless modern medicine....

you want a drug called Ambien

holy crap is it good stuff. I have used it only a couple times when i REALLY needed to get to sleep and really was tired but couldnt. One of my housemates has a perscription so I bummed a pill off of him. You can get it online on the grey-market or have a docotr write a perscription for you.

Are you f&*(*ing insane?!? Ambien is what they give people when NOTHING works. Its the strongest of them all, there is a reason why its like 5mg and maximum is like 15mg. Stop taking it!!! You also grow very dependant on it, after a while you will not be able to sleep without it.

Here are your drugless options:
1) Read war and peace
2) Drink warm milk with honey
3) run head first into a wall

Not to be a pervert, but some good sex would relax you pretty good. Perhaps a combination of the kush and sex...Just an idea though...

HAHA

ya, any victorian author will work too....check out dickens!

seriously, try a nice heating pad behind your neck (make sure its on low and the control isnt within rolling range or you could get burned), make sure you eitehr have sex (or if thats not an option jerk off), that will release some tension. no drugs eh? you may (at last resort) want to hit up 7-11, they have some really weak sleeping pills that arent addictive like ambient - which may help you get back in a cycle.

that, and GET OFF MP3CAR

good luck

edit: NovaKane - you beat me too it! but thats not perverted to get off b4 bed, its natural human (particularly male) physiology to sleep after sex
