Smoke bombs

Was talking with a friend at work tonight about anti-theft for cars.

We came accross an idea of a some bomb being trigerd by the alarm.

We were thinking along the lines of

Thief breaks windows
Alarm goes off, with the some bomb.
thief can nolonger see the head unit to make smash and grab.

Has anybody hear of anything like this.
What does the law say about this, US and UK.
What happens to the car interior after, should imagine it will cause some damage with the smell and the dust it will create.

Assuming that you are serious, I would say do not do it for a number of reasons. First, every smoke bomb I used as a kid was also a stink bomb - I doubt the sulfur smell would come out easily. Second, imagine if it malfunctioned while you were driving down the road at 60MPH - may not be so wise. Third, what happens if the thief steals your car then kills somebody casue they could not see to drive - you will end up with A.) lifetime guilt and B.) a big lawsuit. If you are really concerned with loosing your stereo, do what I do and lock a big nasty dog in your car overnight (potty trained of course)... J/K I don't even have a dog

YMMV, but in MA if a car theif breaks into your car, cuts his wrists on the glass he broke, and bleeds to death, his family can sue you, and they will win. Furthermore, If you defend yourself against a mugger in MA, you are liable for any injuries the mugger sustains. You cannot defend yourself in MA. Interestingly enough, you also cannot consent to being assaulted in MA. I beleve all this is to protect domestic abuse victims.

Because of the rampant crime in South Africa, it is perfectly legal to defend yourself from criminals attempting to break into your car because they are probably trying to kidnap and then kill you. This is why you can fit a flamethrower on your car there.

I would say is that if some ******* thief attempt to sue you, then you find what lawyer he is using, break into his car, injure yourself then sue his *** (of course using the lawyer's enemy competitor for a lawyer)!!!

Please do this with cameras rolling and get a nationwide contract with FOX news to broadcast your dilemma

ANother much easier way is to CAREFULLY cut traces on your LCD controller power lines and solder long wires that go out the rear and attach (use random colors) then the thief could NEVER get it to work again after hastily chopping all of the wires. Hopefully the thief gets offed by the druglord because he attempted to pay with a hosed LCD!!!!
