Well if the prints match, and they are found guilt in court then they are required to pay for all damages. Im not holding my breath though. But I mean really, how ******* stupid can you be to come back and pick up the stash when cops are around. The faceplate on my hu was the only thing they didnt recover. I had the pioneer deh-p650. It just sucks because I have no money at all to replace it. The only reason the window got replaced is because I have a parts car. The more i think about it, the more i want to beat their ***.

good luck with the court case or whatever comes out of this incident...I feel your pain, although my car has never been broken into - my wives' car was broken into last year in Carollton, GA while she was at college. Luckily her insurance replaced her headunit with a much nicer unit and replaced the broken drivers window - but that window hasn't worked right ever since....

I'm sorry to hear about your car being broken into, I know exactly how you feel. I had my Civic broken into about a month ago. Fortunately, they didn't break the window, instead they preyed the glass out of the track and pulled the lock up. They grabbed my PDA, GPS, iPod, Textbooks ect... all and all about $2500 property loss. The cop came and took prints but no less than two weeks later the same people came back and stole the whole car. I called the police and they sent the same cop from the last time. Surprisingly enough, he blamed me for getting my car broken into! He told me because I had a carbon fiber hood on it that I was just asking for it to get stolen! They recovered my car last week but it was already stripped and police have no leads.
After my car was broken into the first time I started to think of ways to prevent it from happening again or getting stolen, like putting a fake Police light bar on it (not sure if thats legal though), but I lost interest since it already happened and I figured it was unlikely it would happen again. Alas, I was wrong, but RS3RS brought up a good idea about an anti-theft systems that could physically harm the thief. If someone were able to figure out a way to hook that up to the alarm system or carPC that would kick quite a bit of ***. Regardless, when I get a new car, I'm putting stickers on it that say "Thieves: Owner is not responsible for death or any injuries sustained from anti-theft system". At least it will at least make them think twice about stealing it.

Oh come on, it probably still hurts
One of the best things you can do for your car is have lojack. i was going to incorperate a system into the carputers i was planning on selling in trinidad. I'll see about making a stand alone system with a PIC. Sorry this happened. I ike buying old cars with a few dents as i'm still waiting for someone to come out with removable stickers with rust and peeling paint. I never locked my car, not once. The only thief i ever had that stole from me was my mom trying to teach me a lesson. It kinda worked- I only locked the doors when i knew she was home lol. Then again, not many people wanted an old 89 toyota celica...

We already pay enough taxes, dusche I mean Bush would probably want a new tax bill created for using vaseline on the inmates, I say lets break their hands one finger at a time, that punishment isnt any less cruel then having something that we work so hard for just to have someone take it away. Eye for an eye.
