instant messaging

can old instant message conversations be retrieved from your computer. more specifically aol instant messages. if so how can i retrieve them.

Only if you saved them previously. You can save a message so you can come back later... but once you close AIM it's bye-bye if you didn't.

On old ICQ (99-00) you could recall them if you didn't delete it... if my memory serves me.

When you are in a message go to File (in the message box) and select save.

Edit... I know my g/f has done that and gotten it to work. I just tried when I IM'd myself... I have a save file but nothing I can open with AIM had to open it with notepad and it has a bunch of coding that goes with it.

if you'd like your IM logs (for AIM, not for AOL itself), then you might try DeadAIM. it logs your instant messages, puts them in folders corresponding to the screenname you conversed with, and dates the files. jdennis.net will take care of ya.

you mean you are using aol? oh dont install that junk on your computer.
I dont think you can retrieve old messages it does not auto log them. And im not sure if you can log them.
