Why M3? have you seen the new M5. 0-125mph in less than 14secs, 0-62mph 4secs. Kinda awsome in a road car.

I am all BMW!! I love my car even though its the lowest model a 318is well almost lowest there is that 318ti which is just crap. My car has loads of options like, traction control, antilock breaks, leather, power windows and locks, Alarm. All those options in a 92 is pretty impressive, i still see some cars today without antilock breaks lol 01 honda civics, but besides that my car has about 187k, i got it at 175K, it runs like a pro! Ive seen bmws last longer than 255K so i hope this lasts just as long. I really dont care that much mine is only the 4 cyclinder version, this is not bad for my first car , im only 17 .. going to be 18 in may 05. But anyways for my next car its deffiantly going to be an e46 they are just amazingly awesome looking. I would very much enjoy a e46 m3 (333hp i believe) 6 speed! weee loads of fun, but i wouldnt mind getting a 323ci, 325ci, 328ci, or even a 330ci, anyone will make me happy, its a step up from mine. Insurance for me is about 220 a month, i could only imagine how much a 2001 will cost me, but its the price to pay for an awesome ride. I enjoy everyday getting in my car and driving around, especially when my carputer is almost complete!

I bought an M3 over the summer. 1997, low milege, runs like a dream. It's cheaper to insure and to drive than my Dodge Dakota that it replaced.
I never thought of any car as being more than simple transportation before I got this car. NOw I sit at home and try to think up places I need to go just so I can drive. It's truly and awesome car. If you have the opportunity to buy one, don't hessitate. IT's so worth it.

Aren't the M3 and M5 almost exactly the same on acceleration, its just that the m3 handles better since it's a smaller car?

Yeah if you get used I recommend getting a compression check on it, just to make sure the engine is in decent shape. But those M3's are a JOY to drive.

What are you talking about? It was the best sport compact around until the EVO and SRT4 arrived. The STI is a mean mean mean version of it too. I think you just have a grudge.

E36 M3's are wayyyy undervalued for what they are. Why do you think this is one of the most popular cars to build as a track car?? Cuz they are that good to begin with. Plus, and I don't think many will disagree with me here, E36 have classic body lines that never get old. I like the looks of the E46, but I LOVE the E36. Buy one and you will love it. And if you cant get over the fact that the E46 makes a lil more power just supercharge it. You would be amazed at how that engine responds to even very low amounts of boost- like 6PSI gets you unreal power and no loss of driveability or longgevity. Just snoop around the bimmer forums. You'll find guys with 150-170k on supercharged motors and if thats not you cup of tea, I guess you will just have to "deal" with a 240hp/ 240tq car with probly the broadest power curve avail.
PS I was quoted cheaper insurance on mine than a 2002 Civic. And I was 20 at the time.
