Fate does not want me to have an Xbox

For the last 2 months, I have been trying to buy an Xbox and it seems that fate wishes me not to have one. I refuse to pay $180+ on ebay for a used one when I can supposedly get a new one for $150. Unfortunately, nowhere around here has any--at least not when I get there to buy one.

Case #1: Last weekend I went to Birmingham for a gun show, but before I left I called bestbuy and circuitcity to see if they had any. BB had 7 and CC had 5. By the time I got there (about 5 hours later) CC had sold out and BB said they never had any to begin with

Case #2: The walmart here in starkville (which is the only thing we have other than the university) is notorious for not keeping anything in stock, as well as not having enough cashiers on duty at any time. Because I live in the Bible Belt, I have discovered that the only time I can get through the checkout line in less than a half hour is if I go whilst everyone else is at church. Today I went at about 11:30 to get a vacuum cleaner and some groceries. I am a follower of Dave Ramsey, so I only brought enough cash for me to buy what I went for (~$60). Lo and behold as I passed the electronics section I saw 4 Xboxes! YAY! I ran home and grabbed my check card and drove back to walmart, where I discovered that in the 45 minutes it took me to do that some shmuck had come in after church and bought all 4 of them

Case #3: After whining to some freinds of mine (all of whom have xboxes), someone mentioned that Gamestop.com has refurbs for $130. EXCELLENT!
I go to the website, add one to the cart, go to checkout and guess what? My new checkcard's visa number hasnt been activated! Well thats okay, because I can use a check.......oh, wait, my checkbook is at the office. So now I have to wait until tuesday (I work for the bank, and monday is a holiday) to either get my Visa activated or grab my checkbook. By then, Gamestop will probably have sold out of all their Xboxes with the way my luck is going.

Either that, or microsoft will decide to recall all unsold boxes until the release of Xbox2, which is tentatively scheduled for next december. SONOFAMONKEY****ER!

So, anyone got a working xbox they wanna sell me for $120?

damn thats horrible, your trying so hard to get it. Its funny how that person bought all 4 of the xboxs before you could get back hahaahahaha. good luck with getting a one. if you get halo 2 and xbox live lemme know your gamertag.

I have an XBox, its stupid. The games suck (especially Halo 2, I hate that game) and Xbox live is a rip off.

I finally was able to win one off ebay today for $120 shipped. It will be chipped within the next month, and yes, XBox Live is a complete ripoff when you have things like xbconnect and xlink's Kai

two things:

one, your opinion is not law. I personally love halo 2 and find xbox live to be a pretty decent deal.

two, the xbox is the single best option for console-based emulation and modification. if you're into that kind of thing, the xbox is more than worth it.

Umm - I purchased my refurb from eBay for $125 shipped. You must not be looking in the right place. Get a USED one if you are planning on modding the unit - the newer units are harder to mod.

You are so f***ing cursed!!! Let me know what happens with your Ebay win. I've got an XBox that I'd sell to you. The thing has been used maybe 20 times. However with your luck, the thing would get destroyed via shipment! Seriously though, let me know & if you want I can send pics or whatever.
