Song Transcript:

“There was a time, when the sun was shing bright
So I went down to the beach to catch me a tan
Then the next thing I knew
A wave 20 feet high came and wash your country away
And all at once, you can hear the screaming chinks.
And then no one was save from the wave.
There was Africans drowning, little Chinaman swept away
You can heard god laughing, swim you *****es swim.

So now you're screwed, it's the the tsunami,
You better run and kiss your *** awake, go find your mommy
I just saw her float by, a tree right through her head.
And now your children will be sold in child slavery.

(Imitating Micheal Jackson)
"Oh on, please not the kids. I'll pay for all the kids.
all the little Indonesian kid, the little Asian kids, the Chinese kids.
the black, oh well, not the Black kids.
the White kids, the Puerto Rican kids.
I love them all. I'll pay for everything.
I promise I won't touch them."

quite frankly they should be ashamed of themselves and never be allowed on air again! 200,000 people die - "lets make a song, its ok most of them were little yellow..." argh - so angry! Can you imagine if someone over there had made a song about 9/11??? my god there would be uproar.

How about a song about the african famine back in the 80s?

Bob Geldof will probably get executed publicly then.

Why is it that black poeple are more tolerated when being racist but never the other way round?

Remind me of the womens only selfdefence or womens only classes but men can never be allowed to do that.

I don't see many people buying this song if they release it to raise money to help the people.

It's poor taste, but he has a right to make the song. Remember, our freedom can't be measured by how people doing popular things fare, it can only be measured by how the real jerks are treated by the gubmnt.

For a point of perspective before someone tells me to shut my hole, my brother died in the Tsunami. He was at Khaolak Beach, and I miss him terribly. Doesn't mean that my feelings getting hurt is an excuse to chuck freedom out the door.

its a misuse of freedom. Its like Chris31 said about the women and men. To misuse the freedome givin to us is childish, well actualy a child can mature, where as an adult its just dumb. Some times the weak have no control over their intelligence or lack of.

News coverage:

Quote:
Before one airing of the song, the station's news reader, Miss Info, who is of Asian descent, objected to the song, only to be attacked by Jones and her cohorts.

"That song is really offensive to me, and I opted not to involve myself," Miss Info said.

Jones replied, "I know you feel you're superior because you're Asian, but you're not." Later, co-host Todd Lyn, incensed at Miss Info's criticism, said, "I'm going to start shooting Asians."

New York Daily News http://www.nydailynews.com/front/sto...p-235138c.html

Quote:
You're sick," Councilman Robert Jackson fumed at the radio station.

Councilman John Liu said it was outrageous that the station, owned by Emmis Communications Corp., aired the song for four days before yanking it.

"It degrades the more than 200,000 victims," Liu said. "It demeans all of us here in New York City and throughout the world who are engaged in trying to help these victims of the tsunamis."

The Kansas City Star http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansas...0727000.htm?1c

Quote:
The piece was also denounced by the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, which said it had received calls from Muslims offended by the piece.

Reuters http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N24679274.htm

Quote:
Councilman John Liu of Flushing was joined by several colleagues and Asian American leaders who denounced the hosts, Hot 97 and its parent company, Emmis Communications.

"This is utterly irreprehensible," Liu said. "It degrades the more than 200,000 victims, it demeans all of us here in New York City and throughout the world who are engaged in trying to help these victims of the tsunami and it's an insult to humankind itself."

BTW, sorry about the thread name. Looking at it, it kinda implies a racial angle... I tried to modify the thread to "Racist Black DJ's" instead of "Racist Blacks" but I guess I can't change the thread name. The whole thing just made me so sick I wasn't thinking all that straight.

I'm not entirely sure that there's anything stopping men only classes... you have men only changing rooms.
We wouldn't need women only spaces if a significant number of men wern't so damn pervy about everything....

Trust me, after reading those articles, I understood PERFECTLy what you meant. That is racism and insensitivity pure and simple. I also agree that these people seem to think they are entitled to degrade any and everyone else on the planet under the umbrella that their brand of suffering was/is worse then all others.

I would love to hear a public protest/boycott of this station. I would love to hear their sponsors run to the hills. Best yet, I would love to see this stations formal public apology and the loss of certain DJs jobs.

There is a right to free speech. Absolutlely true. They've already been free to say what they wanted and it's been heard. Now, let the freedom of expression that they're employment is no longer welcome with that radio station.

Wow, that burns my ***!
