Auto-rx can take care of the sludge problem. do a treatment every 80K miles, and change your oil regularly. no problemos...

My rep at the contracting company has his oil dealer changed and his engine dies at 20k and toyota refused to acknowledge the sludge problem an he has been fighting them to warranty it for a long time.

Well, things have died down, I kinda know what my bills and paychecks look like each month, and I've fixed the one car to the point that it's almost good as new. Time to get that number down below $30,000!

Debt as of 5/27/2005: $29,420.41

My wife has an interview Wed so hopefully she gets the job, she will be going from part time to full time from 10k/year to 30k/year so I'm hoping to have my school loan paid off by the end of this year and her car paid off one year from now instead of two.

Well, first off I couldn't sell it for as much as I owe on it, second besides being unsafe for driving around here a Honda will never survive a trip to my parents house in WV, those old dirt roads eat front wheel drive, and Honda's are too expensive to maintain. I've thought about trying to find an older truck, but they hold value well enough that I can't find anything for a decent price. Unfortunatly a vehicle is like any other tool, a cheap black and decker drill won't last as long or give as good as service as a porter cable and a honda is pretty much useless to me as well, so you get what you pay for for the most part, I would rather have a manual transmission and leave off a few other features but you can't find vehilces without all the extra crap anymore.

If she gets a 30k/year job I'm going to try to pay off my school loan, then her car, then the second mortgage, then the truck.

Yep, interest sucks. We got stuck because of consolidation, it seems so logical that you can take a few little high interest loans and consolidate them down to one but then the one if so big its hard to pay down.

I understand that I am VERY fortunate to have learned this lesson so early. My parents have 2 houses, 3 cars, and a boat that are all still being paid for. It got to the point last year where I had to start telling my dad to quit buying things because he had to start thinking about how my mother would pay the bills if he was gone--he's had several open heart surgeries and has been smoking for 40 years.

His reply? "I've got enough life insurance to cover all this." jeez...sometimes you just wanna smack your elders, dont you?

I saw the storm coming, but I really thought it was a summer shower instead of the hurricane it was until I listened to the tapes and read the books. This is the first month I have primarily used cash and I went from spending $300 at Wal-Mart for food and "necessities" for the last 5 months to.....wait for it....$80 this month--because I was using cash out of my "food" envelope that only had $200 in it at the beginning of the month.

I didn't really get the envelope system till this month and omg it's great. Based on my last 5 months (which I was easily able to track since I used my debit card for EVERYTHING, including buying 20oz drinks for a dollar), I put $200 for food, $100 for Gas/Cigarettes, and $60 for eating out. There's a week left and with a full fridge and a full tank, I've got $120 in the food envelope and $40 in the Gas envelope. Holy Crap!

If I consistently have that much left over, I will decrease those amounts and use the extra to pay down more debt. April is the first month I have student loan payments, but it isnt going to affect my budget because I am already paying so much against the cards.

Discover Card is going away in 6 days. YAY!

holy *****, word for word describes my parents except I'm not in any debt.

a main house and a beach house(maybe getting another place in some random place like murtle beach for no reason), a 21 ft seapro, a honda pilot, toyota camry and p.o.s. mini-van...and recently my dad bought a $4,800 tiffany ring for my mom out of no where.

except everything is payed for except for the pilot. and a really small amount on the beach house. my moms credit is something so rediculous that when we bought the honda pilot, we got it with nav and sunroof and leather and everything for $32000. when I was in the office the sales-bi*ch said shes never heard of a credit that high.

I think the way they got so lucky is paying everything off very slowly, and getting better credit.
