Damn! That was easy. Most people look at you like you've got two heads when you try to tell them that multiple mortgages are good.

oh, i didnt say they were good. Cause what happens when your tenant moves out and now you still have to pay the mortgage only now without that extra income from renters. And there's the part where I think your math only works if you've got an interest only mortgage (read: renting from the bank)
but, if you're Donald Trump I guess it wouldnt matter much.

We're not living check to check anymore, so that's not a concern. That does cost money. The cost can be minimized, of course. And every penny it costs improves our tax situation...

Uh-huh. You're goal isn't to ever own the properties. If you own them, they can be taken away from you. If the bank owns them, if someone tries to sue you for the property, they get the mortgage that's attached to it. Therefore it acts as a form of an insurance policy. And most importantly it keeps your cash liquid.

He's the most famous example of how the "game" works.

No, celebrate by destroying the card if you haven't already. stick each card to a dart board and nail em with a dart when they are paid off.

the attack on my debt is currently on hold
I am instead taking the money I would've paid (over and above the minimum payments) and dumping it into my "emergency fund."
It's at $1200 right now, and once it hits $3000 I will be finding a new job. What with the women problems and retardedly low salaries in Mississippi, the last straw for me with this job came today when my boss instructed me to take inventory of the thousands of CD's we have whilst he set up a new server. I didnt even know he was doing it until I went to the computer room to check on the CD's we have for the servers. The 2 other network guys in the bank (my boss and one other guy) are very protective of thier knowledge and, basically, refuse to teach me anything. I am suffering from brain rot.
I need that money to pay for a rental truck, deposits on apartment and utilities, and any other moving expenses. The hope is to double my salary and yet still live the way I live now--like I'm poor.
Dave says it is okay to put the debt attack on hold if you think a big expense is coming soon. I hope to have the $3k by the first of April and maybe move to Nashville or Atlanta. Just living in one of those cities (which I will not move to until I get a new job) will help me get an even better job later on down the road. Who would you rather hire as a computer consultant: a guy from Atlanta or a guy from a rural Mississippi town you've never hear of?
So, that's the current state of things. BTW, I have video of my credit cards being shredded that I will post at some point

I'd want to hire the guy from a rural Mississippi town I've never heard of. As a corporate shill only interested in increasing my company's stock value by keeping costs low, I'd hire the cheapest labor I could find. <end sarcasm> Sincerely, SO many companies have embraced this "tripping over a dollar to save a dime" mentality that I don't know that your geographical background is a detriment. However, I would agree that there's more money to be made in the city and there are more opportunities... but the city also costs more (housing, insurance, fuel, etc.).
Post your resume before you post the shredding video. I've shredded credit cards myself and it's anti-climactic. There are a lot of Atlantans on here and one of us might be able to help you out. I'm attending a quazi-car show tonight, a carputer meet Saturday, and another quazi-car show next Friday and I'll spread the word. We don't have any need for your skill set in my office; and I'd recommend a better employer than mine, frankly. Well... in all honesty, I'd recommend ending your wage slavery, period. But that's the investor in me talking.
