Some dumb laws I found while surfing the web

California, Chico: Detonating a nuclear device within the city limits results in a $500 fine.
WTF!!!!???

Arizona, Tombstone: It is illegal for men and women over the age of 18 to have less than one missing tooth visible when smiling.
HMMMMM....

Texas, Houston: Beer may not be purchased after midnight on a Sunday, but it may be purchased on Monday.
OOOOOOOOOK?

Weird,

Rafster

Actyually, all through the state of Texas, package sales can occur until midnight, except for Saturday, it goes until 1am.
I don't believe that you can purchase package beer/wine much later than that anywhere, really. I don't see how this is particularly silly.

The other two were pretty silly, but this makes sense. It's perhaps overly restrictive, but makes sense.

i think it means a small contained nuclear device in a lab or summit. Obviously if it was a bomb the penalites for the death and destruction would be far higher.

becuase they probibly mean midnight saturday night into sunday morning, then you can purchase again on monday. The way it is worded is just confusing.

@ darque : crazly enough ny has incedibly lax licuor laws, we can buy beer at almost every gas station and supermaket, anytime except for 8 hours from like 4am sunday morning to noon sunday. the only slightly pain in the *** thing is buying liqour, because we have to go to a "liqour store" that sells just liquor and wine. the bars are also open to 4am everyday

More WEIRD Laws

Germany: It is illegal for ones car to run out of gas on the Autobahn.

United Kingdom: If you are in your car and run over an animal in the road, it is illegal to stop and pick it up and take home for supper (if its an edible animal of course) But the car behind you is perfectly legal to do so!!

Alabama, USA: It is illegal to wear a fake moustache that causes laughter in church.

Considering it's tax season, I figured this one would pertain to the discussion:
Most people figure out their Federal income taxes, then move on to their State taxes.
At the end of figuring out my state taxes, I quickly skimmed through the State instructions to see if I missed anything, and low and behold, there is a section stating that I need to adjust a line on the Federal return! WTF? State dictating how the FED calculates taxes??? At NO point in the FED instructions does it warn us to look into state laws for exclusions... (In Minnesota, they added a new rule this year that when itemizing, your auto registration deduction drops by $35!)

Is this legal? I printed out and made copies of, like, two dozen forms and was all set to mail them, then I find this crap out... Messed up.

It turned out that the +35 to my income didn't kick me into another tax rate, so only two forms were affected, but STILL!

More:

Illinois, Carbondale: No one may stand on the sidewalk on the 500 block of Illinois Ave.

Arizona, Mohave County: A decree declares that anyone caught stealing soap must wash himself with it until it is all used up.

Georgia, USA: Members of the state assembly cannot be ticketed for speeding while the state assembly is in session.

NC:
Elephants may not be used to plow cotton fields.

It's against the law to sing off key.

If a man and a woman who aren't married go to a hotel/motel and register themselves as married then, according to state law, they are legally married.

FL:
If an elephant is left tied to a parking meter, the parking fee has to be paid just as it would for a vehicle.

It is illegal to sing in a public place while attired in a swimsuit.

Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal.

You may not fart in a public place after 6 P.M. on Thursdays.

It is considered an offense to shower naked.

Daytona Beach Laws: The molestation of trash cans is banned.

Tampa: Women may not expose their breasts while performing "topless dancing".
Lap dances must be given at least six feet away from a patron.

WTF!!!!???

Utah:
It is illegal to detonate any nuclear weapon. You can have them, but you just can't detonate them.

And only in West Virginia:
It is legal for a male to have sex with an animal as long as it does not exceed 40 lbs.
